Sherborne Area Refugee Support (Shares) will be joining Refugee Aid from Taunton (RAFT) at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil this month, as partners at The Transports - a show about exile and migration.
At a time when migration makes headlines daily, The Transports (pictured) is a musical show inspired by the true story of two petty criminals transported unjustly from Norfolk to Australia in 1787. This tale of past migration shows how little has changed in the global movement of desperate people, and it includes stories from the Yeovil area about migrants transported in past centuries, along with those who have arrived in recent decades.
Volunteers from Shares and RAFT will be attending the show at the Octagon on 12 January 2018, and will have a stand in the foyer with information about our work, and volunteering opportunities.
